Click on the fireflies to fill up the Help button. It takes a total of 30 and they appear 2 at a time. When it's full, clicking on the fireflies does nothing.
Pay attention to the fireflies as they often hover around tasks or items you need.
If you click on the Help button, and don't get a reaction, that means there's nothing in the current scene to be found. Move to another location and try using it again. This may include opening/zooming into areas where you've previously found items. I'm only guessing at this; I only used the Help function to get minigame/puzzle instructions.
The Help function is always available during puzzles and minigames and it never discharges. Click on it for an image of what you need to do to complete a minigame or solve a puzzle. You do not need to fill it up with fireflies to use it. The only time you need to refill it is in General Areas.
